Maggie Neal Doherty was born and raised in Boyne City, Michigan and is a 2004 graduate of DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana. She has a BA in English Writing. Upon graduation from DePauw, she moved to Northwest Montana. Her background lies in education, including environmental and interpretive education, working for local non-profits and serving as an Interpretive Park Ranger for the Flathead National Forest. Maggie has also worked in restaurant management and has traveled around the country in a 1964 Airstream as a sales representative for Red Ants Pants. She is also an accomplished writer and her fiction has been published in regional literary reviews. Her freelance writing has appeared in local and national publications. Maggie also serves as a Board of Director for the Bob Marshall Wilderness Foundation and a volunteer Editorial Assistant for the Whitefish Review.
In 2010 she was named to the United States Telemark Team and has raced in National and World Cup races in both stateside and around the world. During the winter of 2011, her ski travels took her to Germany, Austria, and Norway. At the 2011 US National Championships in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, she placed 3rd overall. Besides her lifelong love of skiing, Maggie can be found hiking and climbing mountains in Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness.
Maggie lives with her fiance’ Cole and their two dogs, Matti and Wylie, in Whitefish, Montana.
In January 2012 Maggie joined the Glacier Symphony and Chorale as the Patron Services Manager.
