From the Maestro’s Podium
“My thoughts gravitate to our last concerts where I had the pleasure of performing works by Beethoven, Brahms, Mozart, Schumann and Wagner with our orchestra and chorale. What a terrific weekend of performances! I simply can’t say enough about the dedication, passion and technical artistry of our musicians! I hope you were able to see at least one of these concerts ... they were spectacular!
Now, my administrative planning and study turns towards our summer offerings, specifically Symphony Night at the Farm with our American Salute-themed program of patriotic music on July 5 & 6 in Kalispell. Following on August 2-11, will be Festival Amadeus, our 12th in Whitefish! This year we offer two performances of Mozart’s romantic comedy opera masterpiece, Cosi fan tutte with an amazing cast of young professional singers. This will be in addition to 3 chamber and 2 orchestra concerts featuring music of Beethoven, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Reinecke and others. It will be loads of fun.
In addition, look for information on our new OPERA GUILD, a very special donation opportunity to support performances of the great operas by Mozart and others during Festival Amadeus! Consider joining the OPERA GUILD and help us reach for those musical stars!
Meantime I'll be preparing 7 brand new pieces for premiere performances when I guest conduct the Vancouver Inter-Cultural Orchestra in Vancouver, Canada during their Global Soundscapes Festival in early June. This will be my third consecutive summer appearing as conductor for their annual festival.
It’s nice to be invited to do these guest-conducting appearances. And it’s always a challenging time bringing brand new music to life! Not to mention the opportunity to visit and perform in the beautiful city of Vancouver! If anyone is going to be in Vancouver June 8th or the 12th check out the concerts! Here’s their website concert pages discussing the programs and the artists! http://bit.ly/2E9uAlx”
