Join us for this very special Holiday concert that will feature both the orchestra and chorale performing sacred music by Baroque masters Bach and Handel, and 20/21st century composers Vaughan Williams, Lauridsen, Whitacre and Zoltek.  The concert will open with the glorious and uplifting Magnificat anima mea Dominum from Bach’s Magnificat in D major. Then Chorale Conductor Micah Hunter will take the podium for a set of a cappella works including the contemplative O Magnum Mysterium by Morton Lauridsen;

Lux aurumque by Eric Whitacre and the premiere of A Christmas Round, a sparkling piece in the style of a Christmas Carol composed by Maestro Zoltek 30 years ago!  The orchestra returns on stage with Maestro Zoltek at the helm to perform his new orchestra and chorale arrangement of A Christmas Round completed just weeks ago! The audience will be treated to two distinct versions of this short piece to get a little glimpse of the creative process and the transformation of musical design. Then… one more surprise… as the first half concludes with the return of Micah Hunter as baritone soloist is Vaughan Williams wonderfully magical Fantasia on Christmas Carols for soloist choir and orchestra.

Following Intermission it will be time for the very best of Handel’s immortal masterpiece, Messiah. Our chorale and orchestra will present a collection of the finest moments from this inspiring piece including And The Glory Of The LordUnto Us A Child Is Born;

And He Shall PurifyGlory To GodHis Yoke Is EasySurely He Has Born Our Grief and of course the ultimate Halleluiah Chorus!

Join us for this fabulous and inspiring concert for the Holiday Season!

 Concert Dedication - In Memory of Eugene Peterson (1932-2018)

The Glacier Symphony would like to dedicate this concert weekend to the memory of Eugene Peterson who passed away last month.

Eugene was an exceptional person who touched the lives of millions of people throughout the world in significant ways through his spiritual writings and practice. Eugene and his wife Jan were among our most loyal ticket patrons and significant benefactors. Although the Peterson’s were season ticket holders for decades and enjoyed a variety of concerts, performances of Handel’s Messiah were always close to their hearts and a special favorite of Eugene’s. We’d like to honor this wonderfully accomplished and generous man and his family with this concert dedication.
